The Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Intermediate Apprenticeship comprises of the following components:

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF)

The Level 2 Certificate has been designed to enable those who currently work in a school
environment to assist and support pupils with their learning.

The qualification aims to build and develop skills and knowledge of the school context. This level
2 qualification is ideally suited for those who work in the school environment under close supervision.

Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT

These skills recognise and develop the skills needed to function in work, learning and life and involve you choosing and using your skills to solve problems you may experience.

 

If you already hold qualifications in Maths, English and ICT, you may be exempt from completing this component of the apprenticeship.

Employment, Rights and Responsibilities

This unit enables you to gain information about careers, contracts and legislation, along with employer and learner rights.

Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills

This part of the framework comprises of six groups of skills, which are essential to success in work, learning and life. They develop your skills in managing relationships with others and managing your own learning, performance and work to enable you to enter work and adult life as a confident and capable individual.

 

Entry requirements


Must be employed or willing to work in a role within a school setting.

Duration of this apprenticeship is 12 months

 

 

Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Level 3 (Advanced)


The Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Advanced Apprenticeship programme is an ideal follow on qualification for those who have completed the Intermediate (Level 2) Apprenticeship Programme or for those who work in a supervisory role within a school environment.


The Supporting Teaching and Learning Level 3 (Advanced) qualification consists of the following components:


Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF)


The Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF) has been designed to extend the work-related focus of the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (QCF). There is a wide range of optional units covering different aspects of supporting teaching and learning, which allows the learner a choice to select units in a specialist area, or to spread their choice of units across several specialist areas.

There is also the potential for the qualification to prepare learners for employment in a particular vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to enter a specific area of work.
